youngest Sketchcrawl participant

The adorable Anna, Robin's cutie pie 6-year-old, joined us for this morning's Sketchcrawl.  She was a stellar participant.

the "boo boo sad" faces

Some of my buddies in Engineering flattered me with "boo boo sad" faces as I moved my stuff over to the Common Ground area today. Above is Melissa with my "i'll miss y'all" kolaches.  She's quite Mona Lisa here, isn't she?  Below are pretty over-acted but highly cooperative boo-boo faces from Brent and Jason and - hey now, that Don guy looks stoked that I'm going.  Not so cooperative, the stinker!

blast from the past photo

I veer off the path of "photo I took today" in order, primarily, to amuse my sister with this shot of me and Howard, who years after this photo in Chico, somehow managed to be in Santa Barbara destroying a deer head and riding a sled down my sister's stairs until it too was destroyed.  I believe he plucked an eye from the deer and threw it out to sea.

twinsie onesies

for a nice coworker who just had little twin babies - another use for those great vintage tablecloths...

have you any grey poupon?

This is an incredibly well-behaved dog waiting for filet mignon leftovers to go into her food bowl.  Yet mama has to tempt her in order to get the photo.  Humans, harumph.

snow in Austin - crazy!

And here are Tom Lacy and Lauren Reppy humoring me with a "candid" shot of what nearly everyone was up to - gathering around the windows to see the snow falling (which, sadly, my iPhone didn't really capture - so you'll just have to take my word for it!)...

75 and sunny!

Lulu is quite pleased that here in Austin, in the middle of February, we have a day of "75 and sunny" and she can swim in glorious full creeks again! I'm feeling a resurgence of gratitude and affection for Austin.

(taken with iPhone - pretty good quality for that, eh?)

I need a better camera!

Grateful for amazing friends

Went up to Waco today, where my dear friend Gardner was coaching her KSU Wildcats in an equestrian meet against Baylor. It was so wonderful to see her and fun to watch the riding too!

Go Wildcats!

wasabi almonds and my virgin greyhound on the very disco-licious bar

Macy approved

These two "upcycled pups" were a gift to my friend Robin. This is a shot she sent me today of her dog Macy lounging on not one, but both of them! So, I thought this was cute enough that I could break whatever rule there might be about "take the photo yourself." :)

plane crash in Austin / TCA

Just about a 1/2 mile from our office. These are folks from the Texas Culinary Academy catching up on the latest on the fire.  Apparently a software developer was seriously angry with the IRS.

A bit cheerier is this James Beard quote on the wall opposite:

my new Stormtrooper case for iPhone

Had to use my compact mirror to allow the iPhone to take a photo of itself. :)   You can see I have pretty crappy "cord management" going on at my desk.  But I do have a cheery mousepad featuring a late dog of mine named Velda.  She was so cute.

Catch up!

Traveled without my laptop (and later regretted it - although that's neither here nor there), so got way behind on posting my daily snaps.  I did take at least one photo a day to share with y'all though.

2/11 Thursday (the day of travel hell)

8+ hours in Dallas Fort Worth airport trying to find a flight to SF that wasn't immediately canceled due to lack of flight crew.  Then 3 hours on the runway replacing a tire and queuing for de-icing.  Landed in San Francisco at 2 a.m.  Blargh.

2/12 - day in the city, no chance to take photos until the bus ride back to Marin - caught this last bit of light at the toll plaza

2/13 - Saturday brunch with Clare, Porter, Elsa and Suzi at Pier 15 in San Rafael.  I was a little distracted by the fabulousness of the fresh Dungeness crab on my salad, as you can see. :)

So you think these two might be soul sisters or WHAT?

The beautiful duckies (and egret on deck rail) at Pier 15

2/14 - Sunday travel back to Austin included this very foggy ride back over the Golden Gate Bridge in the morning.

2/15 - Monday - back at work.  Forgot to take a photo until my drive home - luckily spotted a funny van.

fabric from heaven!

ok, it's from Ohio. Which could be heaven for all I know.  Perhaps that's where it's hidden.

A lovely, VERY generous woman who knows my sister saw my stuffed dogs on Facebook and offered to send me these wonderful fabric samples.   This photo shows just a portion of them.  I am in complete heaven - most of these are a nice upholstery weight, which I'm finding makes the best doggies. Woo hoo! What a nice thing. I need to do something similar to keep paying it forward!
